The population health data findings from the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) reiterate an often-overlooked fact: millions of Americans are living with daily pain. Al-most 21% of the U.S. population—51.6 million adults—lives with chronic pain, defined as pain lasting more than three months. Of those, 17.1 million live with high-impact chronic pain that substantially restricts their ability to work or participate in daily activities.
Too many of you know firsthand how chronic pain affects your mental well-being and ability to enjoy life. Unfortunately, there is no magic pill that works for everyone. Many patients are turning away from opioids for fear of addiction and other side effects, but the search for alternative solutions can be overwhelming and disappointing. Based on the feedback of our patients, we have developed a toolbox of alternative solutions for pain.
Our first option is a quality cannabinoid-based product. The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is known to be one of the crucial endogenous systems regulating pain sensations, with modulatory actions at all stages of pain processing pathways. The ECS extends through peripheral nerve terminals and nociceptors that comprise the pain pathway. Studies have also revealed that CBD binds to opioid receptors, demonstrating an additional pain relief mechanism.
We suggest that you start out with both a topical product that you can apply two to three times per day to the area(s) of pain as well as an oral form of a full or broad spectrum product.
Topical Options:
My Everyday CBD 1500mg Restore Lotion ($59.95, 4 Fl. oz.)
My Everyday CBD 1000mg Extra Strength Balm ($49.94, 25g)
Oral Options:
My Everyday CBD 800mg Full Spectrum Tincture ($54.95, 1 Fl. oz.) OR My Everyday CBD 800mg Broad Spectrum Tincture ($49.99, 1 Fl. oz.): Start with taking a half a dropper (0.5ml) in the morning and again about two hours before bed. If taken in this manner, a bottle is a one month supply.
Ananda Professional Broad Spectrum CBD Chews ($39.99, 30ct): Start with taking one chew per day. Increase as needed.
The prevalence of pain disorders and the undesirable effects of pain medications warrant the need for alternatives to conventional approaches. Exogenous cannabinoids are well-tolerated and feature strong safety profiles, making them ideal candidates for a comprehensive pain support protocol alongside lifestyle interventions. We will cover another option in our toolbox for pain in our April newsletter. Stay tuned!
